Which kind of tour do you want?

The old town of Bruges is small, so many visitors walk it on their own. A tour makes sense when you want the stories behind the buildings, a hands-on workshop or a tasting that you cannot do alone. Before you compare prices, decide the type. The table below sums up the options for 2026.

There is no single official price for walking or bike tours. Each operator sets its own, so the table shows a dash where no fixed price applies. Prices that do appear come from the operators themselves. This is an independent guide and does not run tours.

The tour types in detail

Prices and times are the published ones for 2026 and can change.

Walking tours

Under the city rule that applies since 1 March 2026, organizers need a licence and each guide a personal authorization badge. This includes tours that work for voluntary tips. Groups are limited to 20 guests, not counting the guide, and loudspeakers are not allowed.

Bike tours

Quasimundo Bike Tours offers city tours and rides into the surroundings. Its list includes a seasonal Christmas Bike Tour of 2 hours in English for up to 14 people aged 6 or older. Do not assume daily departures or a year-round schedule, and ask the operator for the current dates.

Chocolate workshops

The public workshop at Choco-Story costs €45 for adults and €40 for children aged 7 to 11, and children under 7 are not admitted. The price covers the museum, an audio guide, a demonstration, tastings and your own creations. It lasts about 2.5 hours, and you register in advance. The adult category is written "+12yrs", so confirm the category for a 12 year old when you register.

Brewery tours

De Halve Maan runs a standard tour of about 45 minutes for €16 with one beer. Children aged 7 to 15 pay €8.50. The XL tour takes about 90 minutes and costs €26 with three tastings, on weekends only. At Bourgogne des Flandres the tickets run from Dry Discovery at €13 to Duo at €39 for two people.

Boat rides

The classic canal boat tour is a 30 minute round trip with no stop. It is sold on the spot, not online, for individual visitors, so it combines easily with a walk.

Day trips

Bruges is easy to reach from Brussels by train, and you can combine it with Ghent, which lies about 30 minutes away by direct train to the Gent-Sint-Pieters station. Check the pickup point if you book an organized trip.

What to check before you book

Descriptions differ more than prices do.

Licence and badge

A licensed organizer and a guide with a badge are required for every guided walk, whether you pay a fee or give tips. You can ask to see the badge.

Group size

The legal maximum is 20 guests. Look at the number of people a tour takes rather than at labels such as small group.

Stops that are off limits

Guides may not give explanations on the Bonifaciusbrug, on the Wijngaardbrug, in the Blinde-Ezelstraat and the Breidelstraat or in marked quiet zones. Around boat kiosks there is a 10 m zone. In the Beguinage, explanations are restricted in the quiet zone, with an exception for the path between the gates and the church.

Language and age

Check the language of the tour and the minimum age before you pay. The Christmas bike tour is in English, for ages 6 and up. The workshop is not open to children under 7.

Included items

Compare what is in the price: museum entry, an audio guide, a beer or tastings. A €16 brewery ticket with a beer is not the same product as a €13 ticket without one.

Opening days

Museums and some bars have closing days. Match the tour to the day, using the table on the things to do page.
