Chocolate in Bruges at a glance
If you want to learn how chocolate is made, go to the museum. If you want to make some yourself, book the workshop. If you simply want to buy pralines to take home, visit one of the shops. Most visitors do a bit of all three, because the places lie close together in the old town.
This independent guide covers the museum, the public workshop and two shops with confirmed addresses and opening hours. It names the places with confirmed addresses and hours, and you will pass more chocolatiers as you walk around the center.

The Choco-Story chocolate museum
Choco-Story is the chocolate museum on Wijnzakstraat, near Sint-Jansplein (St. John's Square). It is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, and the last tickets are sold at 17:00. On December 24 and 31 it closes at 16:00 and the last entry is at 15:00. It is closed on December 25, January 1 and from January 4 to 8, 2027.
Admission in 2026 is €16 for adults and €14 for seniors from 65 and for students. Children from 3 to 11 pay €10, and children under 3 get in free. The city tourist office lists these prices, so they are a good guide, but check the museum's own site if you are booking near the end of the year.

Chocolate workshop: what it costs and who can join
Choco-Story runs a public workshop. The 2026 price is €45 for the adult category, which the operator labels 12 years and up. Children from 7 to 11 pay €40, and children under 7 are not admitted. The price includes museum entry, an audio guide, a demonstration, tastings and the chocolates you make yourself. Allow about 2.5 hours in total.
The age labels overlap a little: the adult category starts at 12, the children's rate ends at 11. If you are bringing a child of 11 or 12, check the category when you register. You sign up through the museum's registration link, so do not count on walking in on the day.
A simple chocolate afternoon
One way to link the stops. Adjust it to the opening hours in the table.
Start at the museum
Arrive at 10:00 when Choco-Story opens, or book the workshop and spend the first half of the day there.
Walk to Mariastraat
Chocolatier Dumon sits at Mariastraat 14. The same street has the Sint-Janshospitaal museum at number 38. Details are on our museums page.
Finish at Simon Stevinplein
The Chocolate Line at number 19 stays open until 18:30. Buy last, so the pralines do not travel around in your bag all day.
Buying chocolate to take home
Prices in the shops depend on the product and the weight. Ask for the price per box or per piece before you fill a bag. Pralines are fresh products, so keep them cool, and do not leave a box in a parked car or a sunny window.
Chocolate also makes a good rainy-day plan. For the weather side, see the Bruges weather page. If you want something to drink after the sweets, read our guide to Bruges beer. Looking for more to do in the old town? The things to do page lists fifteen ideas.
Visiting in winter? The Christmas period brings its own treats, covered on our Bruges Christmas market page.
